Today brought record high temperatures today in Utah. It got up to 75 degrees which made it feel like a summer day. I knew this was coming so I had plans to ride in Corner Canyon today. When I arrived there, I discovered that I was not the only one thinking that way. The parking lot was full of cars with bike racks attached to them. I thought to myself, this is such a contrast to the other week when I arrived and it was empty.
My ride was as follows. I rode up Clarks to Jacobs then down Jacobs to Ghost back up Upper Canyon Hollow down Clarks and up the new Lower Canyon Hollow. The grand total of my miles were just over 13 miles with 2,600+ feet of vertical. During my ride I came across at least a dozen other rider and two groups of horse people. I kind of spooked the first group of horse people which made me feel bad. I came around the corner, and there they were. I had no choice but to lock it up. My skidding rear tire freaked out one of the horses. All I could think of as I was sliding head first towards the south end of that horse was that scene in one of the Police Academy movies. The part where that sergeant guy endos his motorcycle and goes head first into the rear of a horse. The second group left me a little surprise in the form of a great big pile of pee. I hit it going fast so it sprayed all up my leg and onto my forearm. That was a first time for that. I have to say that I hope it was the last.
I climbed the new lower part of Canyon Hollow as part of today’s ride. I really enjoyed the climb. It has great flow that meanders thru the trees. It is such an improvement on the old way up and down that part of the canyon. You can get to Ghost so much better now. The descent on it is a bit wonky. The first part of it anyway. The tight turns are almost too tight and really slow you down. They are ok on the climb though. I think I defiantly prefer the climb on that trail rather than the descent.
I saw many people out working on the trails today as well. The had two mini loaders taking apart the upper part of Jamies______Trail. I think they are trying to fix the switch back parts right at the beginning. They seem to be putting in some sort of rock thing you will ride on at the trail head. Probably a filter or something.

I came across this today. It belonged to one of the trail workers. He was using it to haul gravel. Check out the "tracks" on that bad boy.
